MATC Dual Enrollment

El Puente juniors and seniors have the opportunity to earn credits at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Students who attend MATC can earn between three and seven college credits while earning high school credit. The program has been sponsored by private donations and by organizations such as Ford Driving Dreams and LULAC Council #340, the Bradley Foundation, and the Bader Foundation.

If you are interested in taking classes at MATC while attending El Puente, contact Molly at molly@elpuentehs.org for more information.

All Hands Boatworks

Twice per year, El Puente enrolls up to ten students into the Boatworks STEM2STERN program. We partner with All Hands Boatworks to provide this semester-long class where students work together to build and launch a full-scale wooden boat as well as a scale model, in weekly two-hour sessions at AHB’s shop. Students also learn about career opportunities in STE(A)M fields (science, technology, engineering, art/design, and math) and skilled trades from AHB’s industry partners. Students who successfully complete the course are eligible for academic credit.

If you are interested in taking a Boatworks course while attending El Puente, contact Molly at molly@elpuentehs.org for more information.

Getting Out in the Community

Part of a well-rounded education comes from learning from and working within your community. El Puente offers frequent opportunities to explore all that Milwaukee has to offer. From college tours to whole-school field trips to career fairs, we want our students to make connections and gain knowledge through the many field trips our students enjoy each year.

Bringing the Community to Us

We understand that some students prefer to have the community come to them! During the school day, El Puente offers opportunities like our annual Reality Check Day, guest speakers, Money Coach, and counseling through Divine Wellness and Counseling.

After School Activities

Are you looking to make friends, learn new skills, and expand your opportunities? We offer after school clubs, such as Student Council, the El Puente Gaming Collective, and Music Club.

Internships, Volunteer Opportunities, and More

El Puente encourages students to participate in internships. These internships help to expand student career interests, increase self-esteem, develop stronger interviewing and job seeking skills, and develop a responsible work ethic.

Potential internships, volunteer opportunities, and other programs we encourage students to join include, but are not limited to:
